astrology for writers is a labor-intensive, exclusively reader-supported publication. if you enjoy getting this newsletter in your inbox, please consider becoming a paid subscriber.
Reminder! My 3rd annual (totally free) annual lunch hour Q&A exclusively for LGBTQIA+ writers is today at noon Eastern, and my rockstar (also queer) agent Dana Murphy of Trellis Literary will once again be joining me to answer all of your questions about traditional publishing.
The event is free (and free of decks sales pitches!), but registration is required just so we have an estimate of how many folks to prepare for. Bring your questions, or come for the conversation! Excited to see my fellow queers there.
Also also also. Right now, I’m booked into July for Your Best Writing Practice readings — book here if you want to secure a spot this summer! (I’d also encourage folks who are interested to read my recent essay on how a writing practice is different from a writing schedule, just to level set expectations).
The Full Moon arrives at 2* Sagittarius at 9:53am Eastern.
This buoyant, jubilant Sagittarius moon comes to fullness mere days before its ruler, Jupiter, moves into Gemini. Full moons, the time of completions, of endings, and, consequently, of new turns in the cycle. Here, we get ready to lay down our swords (and pens) for a little while. The moon, which wanes after fullness, encourages release and rest and recuperation.
It takes a lot of energy to birth something. To let go of a long-held ideal. To make a big change.
Sometimes, moon cycles show up in obvious ways for us (especially when new-full moon lunations are landing in our 1st and 7th house, or the 4th and 10th). But sometimes, they are less obvious. For clues as to what is coming to fruition — even if that fruiting is something you are moving away from — look back to the last New Moon in Sagittarius, which was on December 12, 2023 (and at 20*). What were you beginning, committing to, or even just curiously exploring then — especially around belief? Mind, “belief” doesn’t have to be synonymous with religious or spiritual here. What we believe informs every single part of life. As we’ve recently discussed, our beliefs about what makes a writer, or what counts as writing, informs our relationship to Creativity herself.
Full Moons in the always philosophical, sometimes zealous Sag often indicate revelations around belief, or intentional shifts in our practice. Or perhaps the bubble has burst, and we must deal with the aftermath. The moon becomes full fresh off a gentle sextile to Pluto, which really highlights how much we are, collectively, composting the grist of life.
All of this is cosmically echoed by the moon’s ruler, Jupiter (to get the moon’s ruler, we look to the planet that rules the sign the moon is in - and healer-teacher Jupiter is in charge of Sagittarius). The astrologically savvy among you are well aware that Jupiter, which has been in Taurus for a year, is currently enjoying its final days there. Jupiter and Venus had a particularly creative, supportive conversation this morning, which will be sure to seed projects starting now. As Jupiter contemplates its final days in methodical, verdant Taurus, we might also consider what Jupiter has grown, or expanded, in the Taurus house of our chart this last year — and what changes we are now seeking to enact. (The Jupiter ingress into Gemini will get its own newsletter this weekend.)

Aries rising and I literally just journaled about a narrative i’m holding that no longer serves me and I need to reframe and this was just a confirmation. A lot of limiting beliefs work to do for me this full moon…
With Sag rising, I've felt in the last two days like I'm totally having a 12th-house experience. Last night I climbed into bed at 7 PM! I couldn't keep my eyes open all day. All I wanted to do was lie down and dream. Finally, today I feel like I'm waking up and feeling present. Thank goodness.
