“Jeanna's Unsticking Your Creative Practice 2025 might be called a "mini" reading for its brevity, but its substance packed a mighty punch. 🎧: New Call Your Coven episode out this weekend (!): “Out of the Broom Closet.” Listen to hear us share our journeys out of religion and towards ourselves, and also for my rant about white women and “the witch wound”! Like, comment, subscribe, rate, review!
So here’s the thing: it’s Mercury and Venus Retrograde. It’s eclipse season. These next two weeks, especially, are not the moment to try to ramp up into “get up and go,” launching that new project. I mean, if you are so inclined and so resourced, don’t let me hold you back! But if you (like me and pretty much everyone I know) are feeling sluggish, tired, overwhelmed, and otherwise uninspired, allow me to give you permission to take a load off and focus on creative input rather than creative output.
Here, tailor made for the current ~astro weather~, are eleven suggestions for creative input in These Times.
Reading & Inspiration
Connect with your inner child. Read the work of Pisces sun Dr. Seuss or Aries sun Beverly Cleary. Or simply pick up (or hunt down) a Middle Grade or Young Adult book you loved when you were little. For me, that means Karen Cushman’s Catherine, Called Birdy or Gail Carson Levine’s Ella Enchanted, both of which I keep in my library. Go remind yourself of why you fell in love with books in the first place.
