Hi friends,
Thank you so much for the overwhelmingly positive response to the New Moon in Taurus newsletter. It means so much. Creativity is spirituality is creativity is spirituality.
I’ve got some important announcements, but also a new podcast I’m on (Living Open) if you don’t want to read that far down, and also some fun things I’m reading/watching/etc. at the very end, if you want to skip!
classes: where one ends, another begins, or something like that
Astrology for Writers has been running for almost four and a half years (!!), and in 2021, I launched a course based on the newsletter, Astrology for Writers: How to Make Your Writing Work for You, which walks you through your birth chart as it pertains to your writing and publishing career. I taught the class live, in 4- and then 8-week iterations, before moving it to a self-paced version.
But the class is a few years old now, and in order to make room for new astro-writing offerings, I have realized that it’s time to let this class go.
I am so, so profoundly grateful to all of the students who have taken this course, both live and self-paced. You have taught me so much about astrology, about writing, and also about myself as a teacher and a self-employed person.
In gratitude, the course will be 50% off for the entirety of June before it crosses over into permanent retirement on June 30th. Code THANKYOU.
While the class will remain closed and be taken off the website, students will have permanent access to the material through the website login.
ALSO ALSO ALSO.
If you’re struggling to craft a query letter that captures the essence of your nonfiction project, this workshop is for you. Sign up for How to Write a Query Letter closes this Saturday!
are you also a fan of Living Open?!
I had the great good fortune to have a conversation with Eryn Johnson on her wonderful podcast (which many of you may know!), Living Open. We talked about:
My journey with Christianity & deconstruction
Grieving the loss of religion
Not just replacing christianity with cut/copy/paste spirituality but actually figuring out what we believe
Navigating having conservative, evangelical families
Believing in people’s capacity to change
Having hard conversations with family
The particular loneliness of strained and estranged relationships with parents
Reparenting ourselves
Truly one of my favorite podcasts I’ve ever been on. Take a listen!
ending with some real talk / fun
What I’m reading:
former subject editor Shelli Nicole’s real talk of what went down at Autostraddle (if you have also been ~keeping abreast~ of what’s been going on via Twitter, etc.)
a chapter of Braiding Sweetgrass, every morning
Kaitlin Coppock’s magnificent Opus write-up at Sphere & Sundry
N.K. Jemisin’s The Kingdom of Gods, the third book in the Inheritance trilogy
What I’m watching:
so much Survivor; Meg and I have binged at least 10 seasons in the last 2 months
The Ravening War on Dropout, DM’d by Matthew Mercer; my lesbian man crush is Brennan Lee Mulligan and I hate that he keeps playing unfuckable characters
What I’m listening to:
Kesha’s new album, my god
Renaissance, always
the playlist I’m slowly putting together for book 2
What I’m playing:
Fortnite, always
Meg made me play the chaotic goose game this last week on a very stressful day and you know what, it was very fun, but then I got bored because I need video games where I accomplish things and have Stats, in other news am a Capricorn
Tell me what YOU’RE reading/watching/listening to/playing in the comments!
I’m working my way through the Discworld series for the first time, as well as Ithaca by Claire North, and Finding the Fool by Meg Jones Wall.
