Beloveds!
I am so excited to announce that I have finally taken the leap and created something I have long wanted to do for this newsletter:
A Discord community.
These private, invite-only community servers, which harken back to the days of Ye Olde Message Boards, are (far) more private than social media, but still a way for those of us who work remotely and/or for ourselves, or who have solitary careers (like writing), or who have special interests (like astrology and/or witchcraft) that may not be shared by our IRL loved ones to connect.
I basically live on Discord. Some of my friend groups have our own private Discord servers where we keep up with each other — far more convenient, organized, and active than a chaotic group chat. I run into some of y’all in interest-based witchcraft and astrology Discords run by Siri Plouff and Sasha Ravitch.
I recently experimented with running my own server during this Venus Retrograde with the Roses & Thorns cloister; it was an absolute joy and a perfect way to get to know each other and stay connected.
And it made me ask… what the fuck have I been waiting for, really?
Writers do not write alone. Community is vital: whether it’s literally a writing group or simply having someone to vent to about the edits you just got back. We need people who get it.
And for those of us for whom there is an additional spiritual element to the work, there is an added piece to the work. Something that can make it feel especially fraught to discuss with other people. The, “will they judge me?”
Here is a place where you can be with other people who get it, who won’t judge, and who, if anything, will join you in celebrating our collective freaky weirdness. I know that I will.
The Discord is open to paid subscribers. Link to join below.
Can’t wait to hang with you there.
