Happy No Kings weekend, beloveds! The culture-defining events of the present moment are reflected in this week’s astrology, including — tragically — the politically-motivated assassination of Minnesota’s Democratic House leader and her husband, and another attempt on a Minnesota state senator and his wife. We often see headlining violence during Mars-Uranus squares, but this was one of the greatest tragedies of this transit in recent memory. My heart is with the Twin Cities — and good goddamn, did y’all send a message that you will not be silenced in spite of leaders telling you to stay home.
Coming later this week: fighter Mars changes signs and Cancer season begins on the summer solstice. We are digging in.

10:35am: Jupiter in Cancer square Saturn in Aries (1*)
I know that some folks are here ~for the vibes~, but I don’t know what to tell you, dude: astrology is political. So is art-making, for that matter. (Book bans: hello!)
If we are engaged with the world through an animistic lens, understanding that we live in an enspirited world, how can we possibly think that our struggles as well as our dreams are not interconnected?
As Audre Lorde once wrote, “I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own.”
And so, let’s get into this morning’s third and final Jupiter-Saturn square from our post-2020 opening salvo, which has very explicitly played into the overarching political story of the United States, my home country.
A brief timeline of this new cycle so far:
December 2020: Jupiter and Saturn met in a Great Conjunction at 0* Aquarius, beginning a new 20-year cycle of world building. On the national stage, it was around that time in 2020 that Joe Biden was confirmed to have won the presidential election.
August 2024: The first Jupiter-Saturn “hit” of its opening square, during which Kamala Harris was confirmed as the Democratic nominee. At the time, this seemed like a course corrections.
December 2024: The second (retrograde) Jupiter-Saturn “hit” of the opening square. Trump was named Time’s “Person of the Year” for the second time. This month brought the beginning of the Trump confirmation morass/nightmare. Notably, within the week before the exact Jupiter-Saturn conjunction, the electoral college results were ratified.
June 2025: The third and final check-in of the opening square, occurring today but whose influence will pervade the days to come. Notable domestic events of the last week include:
Protests against ICE raids in Los Angeles that have captured international attention
The release of record-low approval ratings for Trump on immigration, his headline issue
Trump’s failure of a military / birthday parade
The wildly successful No Kings protests (2000+ protests across all 50 states and internationally)
Pope Leo speaking appointing his first bishop (who has instructed his priests to accompany immigrants to court) and also speaking to an enormous crowd in Chicago in support of migrants and refugees
The assassination (and assassination attempt) of Democratic Minnesota politicians and their spouses
An ongoing story out of Rockland County, New York about votes being miscounted
I am heartened by the growth in collective action, by the efforts on so many fronts that are fighting fascism. Jupiter-Saturn cycles aren’t just about what a people believe, but about what they are committing to, collectively. It’s like vines of wine grapes snaking up a trellis, structured and supported so that they can grow to peak ripeness.
Our struggle for freedom is interconnected. And we have a far greater chance together than we do alone.
