Full Moon in Gemini: What Sparks Joy?
December 11 for West Coast // December 12 for East Coast
Joy, creativity, and a bit of playful charm come out to play with Thursday’s Full Moon in Gemini. An optimistic day for social connection, holiday parties, and general cheer, we all have the ability to tap into that wit that Gemini is known for when the energy is potent. If you’re looking for one last social hurrah before settling in to your writing nook for the winter, this would be a good time to do so.
Full moons also, of course, indicate that some project or lesson is culminating. Look to the Gemini house of your chart for clues on which area of life this particular project may be culminating in; also consider what you were starting six months ago at the Gemini New Moon on June 3, 2019.
Venus in Aquarius: Who Invests in YOU?
December 19-January 13
It’s the holidays, sure, but that doesn’t mean you can’t see your friends. The astrology around the holidays this year is all about breaking tradition (lots of connections happening with rebellious Uranus in Taurus); for some of us, chosen family is everything, anyway.
Venus is about love, money, and - more broadly - value, and when she’s in Aquarius, friendship and community takes center stage.
So here’s the question for writers: who supports your work - like, really? Because there are different categories of support, right? There are the folks who read the very first drafts of your work (your writing group, maybe, or the handful of friends whose eyes you trust); then, there’s the emotional support team. Your best friends who always get it; other writer friends whose DMs you can slide into for the highs and the lows. There are your Twitter cheerleaders, and the Internet Friends you cheerlead. There are, beyond that, good friends who respect your boundaries around work and money.
But… there might be people who don’t, or who used to be in one of these categories, but pretty obviously aren’t anymore. Some of these relationships might be ones you are willing to tolerate, for a variety of reasons (a friend’s partner, or even a family member). But others might have you asking… why are we friends, again? (What, exactly, am I getting out of this?) You know who I’m talking about.
Venus in Aquarius energy vacillates between deep connection and alone time, so use this month to assess the state of that network, who is contributing - and who, maybe, you can let go of.
Capricorn Season: Let’s Get Down to Business
December 21-January 21
Happy Winter Solstice! The shortest day and the longest night of the year marks a turning, a point of renewal for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. This is also the initiation of Capricorn season, and the official start of winter. Here, we turn inward: toward the kind of deep rooted earth energy that requires a lot of patience and a vision for the long haul.
This is about the climb. Capricorn energy isn’t about climbing just one mountain; sometimes, it’s about getting to the top of the mountain only to find that, oh shit, I meant that mountain over there. But you still learned a lot from this one, didn’t you?
This is about resilience. Endurance. Digging deep within yourself to find reserves of energy you didn’t know you had. Gutting it out. Not in a way that’s painful, but in a way that understands that rewards come to those who know that instant gratification is a myth and that talk is cheap. Ruled by taskmaster Saturn, Capricorn season sees right through short-cuts - but it will absolutely honor and bless your very best.
I’m speaking as a Capricorn sun/moon, mind - and as someone born on the solstice. Happy solar return to my fellow solstice babes who know how to rock with that long dark night.

December 15
Jupiter in Capricorn trine Uranus in Taurus
Well, you don’t see this every day: expansive, buoyant Jupiter working with rebel Uranus to challenge, dismantle, and otherwise uproot the systems in our lives that need uprooting. This is some pre-holiday internal (maybe external!) house-cleaning - metaphorical and otherwise. Might be too restless to get a lot done today, or might be super inspired. Play it by ear.
December 18
Mars in Scorpio sextile Saturn in Capricorn
Now this is some powerful get-shit-done energy. Mars is home in super-focused Scorpio and Saturn is home in responsible, structured Saturn; this is some super fucking potent get projects done and out the door before you jet set, ambitious AF energy.
If you want to pitch, definitely pitch, but this feels more like you’re actively working on and otherwise building existing projects.
December 20
Mercury in Sagittarius square Neptune in Pisces
A little fuzzy, but potentially very fun energy - wild child Mercury in Sag teams up with dreamy, super high Neptune in Pisces to get creative. Whatever that means to you.
December 22
Mars in Scorpio sextile Pluto in Capricorn
Mars is really helping you get things done this season, and here again they make a helpful connection with transformative Pluto. Here, you may have a breakthrough on a project that you were having difficulty with. This energy is connective and helps you push forward.
Venus in Aquarius square Uranus in Taurus
Also on the 22nd, Venus, the planet of value, connects with independent AF Uranus, challenging you to think about how, exactly, you’re making money these days, and is it actually working for you? Alternately: is your lifestyle working for you? Are you living above or below your means? You’re being asked to rethink something around money or lifestyle.
