Full Moon in Pisces
September 2, 1:21 AM ET | September 1, 10:21 PM PT
I have refused to live
locked in the orderly house of
reasons and proofs.
The world I live in and believe in
is wider than that. And any,
what’s wrong with Maybe?
Tonight’s Full Moon in Pisces brings a collective push toward awakening. Whether you are looking out your window over a city or standing on a beach watching the ocean waves crash in, whether your front yard is still full of trees downed by a derecho or the hurricane flood waters are still receding on your street, tonight’s lunation promises a flash of insight.
It can be hard to try to focus on self-awareness or self-improvement, let alone creative projects, when natural disasters are abounding and fascism doesn’t seem to creep so much as arrive by a new parade every day. And certainly, the Pisces energy this moon brings doesn’t necessarily help in that regard, as its porous emotionality can make us all particularly sensitive to the collective unconscious and especially to those in our immediate environment—a partner’s snoring, a roommate’s tics, a child’s constant questions. Baths, showers, and trips to the nearest body of water may be called for in order to help the body, mind, and spirit settle.
But even in the midst of chaos—on the one hand, injustices so brutally and predictably systemic and on the other hand, deaths so desperately random and unfair—there is you: your precious creative spirit, and your precious and beautiful body.
Dissociation can be tempting in times like these, but this moon calls you to awareness. Sextile Uranus, the planet of upheaval and sudden change, it’s vital that you stay attuned and present to what your body is telling you and what your intuition is picking up. There are the deadlines, of course, but there is also the information that the constant onslaught of this year’s individual and collective trauma has brought to the surface. The rhythms worth noticing, the patterns worth observing, the joys that feel fleeting and therefore all the more valuable and worth writing down.
The Virgo/Pisces axis is about healing, which can feel ironic in a time like this. But how is your relationship to your creativity, to your vulnerability, to your work shifting? How can you bring more compassion to yourself, to facilitate more flow and less pressure in your writing life? The world, we are reminded, is full of more than enough pressures—we ourselves do not need to add to them. This moon is reminding us that inspiration is there if we only pay attention and stay present and aligned, grounded in reality while open to the possibility of more.
You wouldn’t believe what once or
twice I have seen. I’ll just
tell you this:
only if there are angels in your head will you
ever, possibly, see one.
