how does your writing work for you?
Being completely honest with you, when I first started writing this astrology-based newsletter more than two years ago, I thought that my still-fledgling reputation in the literary community would take a big hit. That no one would take me seriously. That being open about how I explicitly, earnestly used astrology as a part of my writing practice would immediately render any attempts at a “real” writing career null and void. That I would effectively be “turning off” the editors and more established published authors who I so desperately wanted to impress.
The irony is that the deeper I move into my spiritual practice, the fewer and fewer fucks I have to give. Astrology isn’t a belief system, but it is a structure that helps me be more in tune with the natural environment around me. It helps me pay attention to my body, and to my energy levels, and to the energy of the collective. It has helped me become so much more sure of myself and my work, and so profoundly less invested in impressing gatekeepers.
Also? It turns out that a lot of other writers are interested in the spiritual, too. In the idea that there is more to this life than what’s directly in front of us. In the idea that we are all, in fact, in this together as a collective.
In the deep, abiding knowledge that story is one of the things that connects us.
I resisted writing the stories that moved me for a long time: the ones that reckoned with the trauma of religion, the dark nights of the soul, the what ifs of life that you spend the wee hours of the morning circling around. I spent years constructing a version of my memoir that shunted my former evangelical faith and continued pursuit of spirituality to the back burner.
No surprise — that book didn’t sell. Once I completely restructured the memoir to prioritize storylines and critical explorations around faith and spirituality, it did — at auction, no less.
The creative work I was doing on my memoir dovetailed with the work I was doing to make a living: the full-time jobs I had working for astrology apps that combined my training as an astrologer with my years of work in content creation and marketing. Everything in my life was pulling and pointing toward themes that fed folks’ desire for the why?
The thing is, doing spiritually-inflected work is literally right there in my chart. In my chart ruler, in my Mercury, in my 2nd house of how I make money, in so much more. It’s all blatantly obvious, once you know where (and how) to look.
Your life’s themes and creative obsessions are right there in your birth chart, too — even if you feel disconnected from them, or uncertain of what they are.
If you are feeling stuck, or in need of affirmation and some motivation that yes, you are on the right path —
If you’re an astrology buff who would simply like to refract your own deep understanding of your chart through the lens of writing specifically —
I’ve created a class that can be a container for your story, and a guide on the path forward.
If this newsletter uses astrology to tell the story of what’s happening in the world right now, then the class that has grown out of it uses astrology to tell the story of your life as a writer. To talk about what you’re obsessed with. What moves you emotionally. What your purpose is. What drives you. What friction you feel between how you move through the world and how you make money. What your writing practice looks like. How you think and how you process and how that connects to every part of your creativity.

What course alumni have experienced:
Jeanna’s Astrology for Writers class gave me permission to write about the things I feel compelled to write about in the way that feels natural to me. I no longer feel embarrassed about not having the same process all writers are “supposed to” have. I feel free to relax into the writing life I was born for, and that is an incredible gift. — Becky Bullard
Take this class. You owe it to yourself to finally understand how YOU work. There is so much content in the world about how to write and what your goals as a writer should be. Yet, none of it compares to the wisdom you will gain by looking inward and understanding your birth chart. After taking Astrology for Writers, I gained clarity on my purpose as a writer as well as the confidence to pursue it. However, the most fulfilling thing that I walked away with was a deep sense of compassion, acceptance, and self-love for the unique process I need and have to write my best work. In all honesty, every writer, no matter where they are in their career, should make the time to take this class with Jeanna. It is THAT remarkable. — Luna Damiana
This class was amazing! I learned so much about how my chart relates to my writing and craft. I wouldn’t have thought to look at things in ways this class brought up. Also, just extremely validating. — Georgia Silverman
I learned so much about my chart from Jeanna. I had no idea how practical the information would be! It was a great jumping-off point to consider past patterns, how to reframe perceived limitations, and how I can approach my current challenges with a new outlook. Something that surprised me: I had never considered that taking humans out of the story, and just looking at my life through the lens of celestial bodies and their dramas, would remove past hurts and burdens and clarify my opportunities. Total game changer for me. — Katherine
The course drops officially on October 24th, and will be available for a limited time. Folks who pre-order will get the bonus modules on Venus (your aesthetics) and Mars (your work ethic).
This class is a permission slip to totally transform your relationship to your own work. It’s a container for you to sit with your own unique cosmic map. It’s an invitation to completely rework your understanding of what your writing means to you and for you in this moment.
