Hi friends,
It’s officially Mercury Retrograde! Two quick notes before we dive into our discussion of the Rx and Jupiter entering Aries later tonight and what that means for your writing life:
Nonfiction writers! Registration for my class How to Write a Book Proposal is OPEN! Class starts June 5. This will be the last time I teach the course to the general public this year.
Also! As many of you know, my memoir-in-essays on leaving my husband, coming out as a lesbian, and leaving the church (and discussing the stranglehold the Religious Right has on this country) comes out this October. Something I did while writing HERETIC was to develop playlists for every essay-chapter. Not playlists to write to, but rather, playlists that embodied the mood, flow, and subject. Playlists I’d walk to. Shower-sing to. Troubleshoot to. Over the next few months, I’ll be releasing the HERETIC playlists on select Fridays. This last Friday, I released the first, which accompanies chapter one, “In the Beginning.” Hope you enjoy.
And now: let’s get into it.
Xx,
Jeanna
Mercury Retrograde: Srsly It’s Ok
Every planet except the sun and the moon experience retrogrades, and Mercury has the most: three per year, for roughly three weeks each. Predictable. Routine. Regular. Today, Mercury, the planet of communication, stationed for its second retrograde of the year in Gemini at 7:47am Eastern. It’s not a cause for panic, nor is it something to put your entire life on hold for. Again: we have multiple Mercury Retrogrades a year, for typically nine or so weeks total. You gonna take yourself out of the game of life for more than two months a year because some social media manager on deadline for new content solicited someone willing to write fear-based astrology articles got you in your feelings? No.
