Before we get into eclipse season, I wanted to announce that it’s time for the end of year reader survey! I haven’t done of these in years, so am very overdue, and am mostly wanting to collect info on what y’all’s current creative interests and challenges are, so that I might better support them.
In gratitude for taking the survey, I’ll be doing a giveaway on October 31st: a randomly selected survey respondent will receive a free, ~customized~ consult (pure astro, or astro-witchcraft blended!) with me.
The Full Moon is exact at 14* of Aries at 11:47pm Eastern tonight, October 6th.
And with this moon, eclipse season is officially over. Thank fuck.
This moon is relatively uncomplicated, making no immediate aspects. In this respect, this lunation is very much a palate cleanser. It won’t square Jupiter in Cancer until the next morning, which may both help things come to fruition as well as amplify that “full moon hangover” so many of us get — so if full moons knock you out at the best of times, be sure to schedule extra rest.
While full moons are technically culminations, they are also periods of maximum light, and as such maximum visibility. This can be a great time to pitch or otherwise do publicity and promotion for current or upcoming projects. It’s also a great time to infuse light and energy into projects that may have fallen by the wayside due to eclipse season, or simply due to the exhaustion of the year.
Take a beat today to check in with yourself — with your body, your mind, your spirit, your heart — and really reflect on what you most need right now. The moon is the most vulnerable planet in the sky, the one that we emotionally, spiritually, and even physically wax and wane with. It is the planet that, along with Saturn, is most concerned with time; while Saturn takes the long-ranging, Google Earth view, the moon attends to time in the present, time in the “week ahead,” time in the recent past. And so giving attention to the time we are in, to the time we have been given, is one way we can honor this lunation.
Some journal prompts to begin your reflection:
And remember that eclipse season is physically exhausting, so don’t rush: take your time, hydrate, rest, stretch, play. These will be here when you get back.
This moon marks a culmination or turning point in the events that began brewing around the New Moon in Aries (which was an eclipse) on March 29th earlier this year. What were you beginning, investing in, or paying attention to around that time?
Where does life find you now, compared to six months ago? Where have you experienced change? Where are you letting go? What endings have felt like a relief, and what endings have felt forced?
How has your creative practice shifted, grown, changed in this time? What was your relationship to ~the work~ this last spring? Where have you given yourself more space, more empathy? Where have you, perhaps, been more harsh than was fair?
