tl;dr This moon is spicy, but incredibly generative for those willing to dig into (and possibly dig up) the roots of your work.
New!
If you don’t understand the astrology correspondences commonly given to tarot cards… hi, yes, I see you. I have longstanding issues and disagreements with the most commonly accepted and shared correspondences, and so does my wife Meg Jones Wall, who you might know as tarot reader and author 3am.tarot (and as one of my Call Your Coven co-hosts).
Years ago, we made our own astro-tarot correspondences, and recently have been asked to share them. And so you’re cordially invited to Stars & Cards: A Fresh Take On Tarot & Astrology Correspondences. In addition to offering our own new correspondences, this exploratory lecture also invites you to develop your own.
The New Moon arrives at 2* Leo at 3:11pm Eastern on Thursday, July 24th.
And this moon is spicy.
Coming off aspects to both “let’s fuck it up” Uranus and “hey, what if we did anything” Saturn, this New Moon is seconds away from an exact opposition with Pluto, aka “what if we went on an underworld journey and totally changed our life.”
Not exactly the joie de vivre we expect from Leo season. However, when we look beneath the surface, we find an incredibly supportive moment for fixing our collective gaze on that which we want to change.
Writers and artists know that, as they sing in Rent, the opposite of war isn’t peace — it’s creation. And this moon is an invitation to consider why we create in the first place.
It can be hard to create when the world feels like it’s collapsing. Hard to find inspiration when we feel so helpless, so powerless as to the forced starvation that has settled into Gaza. But Leo energy reminds us that we do what we can, where we can. Focus that spotlight of attention on one thing at a time, and after you call your reps or donate or share, remember to re-orient your attention to your local community and beloveds. Leo season asks us how we can show up where we are, how we can bring light to someone else’s need in an immediate way.
Creation is the opposite of war, but connection is the antidote to despair. This Leo moon, try to find some — or even better, make it.

Co-present with Mercury Rx, this moon is also inviting us to revisit something. Whether this means putting new eyes on an old project, focusing on revision of an existing WIP, or tossing something out the window in favor of starting fresh, don’t be afraid to re-start a project or idea. What in your creative life most needs a reboot?
