I don’t know about you, but there are a lot of “supposed to-do’s” that I absorbed when embarking on a writing career. A lot of hangups. A lot of internalized bullshit.
I thought I had to write 8 hours a day and felt like a failure that the long, all-day sprees some friends went on were something I could never quite do. What kind of writing practices and routines and pitching schedules actually worked for me?
I knew that I loved being online, historically comfortable in community-oriented digital spaces (I first got on LiveJournal when I was fifteen), but I initially wasn’t sure how to be a person and a professional on Twitter. How could I invest in a public, digital presence among my literary community that had boundaries, but where I could still develop relationships that felt nurturing and real?
And for years, I was completely stumped as to how I was supposed to build a writing career and incorporate my other professional interest, astrology, which had come bursting into my life like the Kool-Aid man. How to blend two seemingly disparate careers? And also, wouldn’t my writing community — so literary, so serious, so New York — judge the fuck out of me for being an astrologer? Even if I used astrology in my private life to determine things like ideal times to pitch and revise, that didn’t feel like something real writers said out loud.
As it turns out, the answer to all of these questions — and so many more — was right there in my natal birth chart.
What kinds of writing routines work for me — in a way that is shame-free and sustainable.
What kind of public presence to build — and what kind of boundaries to enact.
How to integrate two seemingly disparate career interests — and make money doing them.
Understanding my birth chart unlocked a confidence and new access to creative energy and career growth that I had never imagined possible. I got a six-figure job working for a famous astrologer. Then, I got a book deal with my dream editor. Eventually, I left my day job to work and write for myself.
Astrology has been integral to every step.
Applying astrology to your writing fundamentally disrupts the white supremacist, patriarchal capitalist narratives that insist there is one magical, most-efficient way to produce, and that anyone who doesn’t produce that way is inherently wrong or destined for failure.
But that isn’t true. And not just in my own life — I’ve seen astrology help clients and students break out of writer’s block, unstick years-old creative projects, and revolutionize the way they approach making money.
This is why I teach Astrology for Writers: How to Make Your Writing Work For You.

Here’s what some recent alumni have said about their experience,
Jeanna’s Astrology for Writers class gave me permission to write about the things I feel compelled to write about in the way that feels natural to me. I no longer feel embarrassed about not having the same process all writers are “supposed to” have. I feel free to relax into the writing life I was born for, and that is an incredible gift.

Take this class. You owe it to yourself to finally understand how YOU work. There is so much content in the world about how to write and what your goals as a writer should be. Yet, none of it compares to the wisdom you will gain by looking inward and understanding your birth chart. After taking Astrology for Writers, I gained clarity on my purpose as a writer as well as the confidence to pursue it. However, the most fulfilling thing that I walked away with was a deep sense of compassion, acceptance, and self-love for the unique process I need and have to write my best work. In all honesty, every writer, no matter where they are in their career, should make the time to take this class with Jeanna. It is THAT remarkable.
