Before we get into a deep historical dive on Jupiter in Gemini and what this next year will bring to artists and our own creative practices: some church announcements!

Former English majors (and history and astrology nerds): with us being almost halfway through the Saturn in Pisces years, I’ve taken 50% off my 3-hour lecture on the art and literature of Saturn in Pisces, so it can more affordably be brought to your door ($19!). The lecture also got a recent shoutout from the brilliant Diana Rose Harper on The Astrology Podcast; I appreciate how much it’s a resource for other practitioners who want to find the history and major themes of a transit in one place.

For those of you looking to bang out your book proposal this summer: I’ve brought my How to Write a Book Proposal class to the comfort of your own couch — and your own pace. It’s a self-paced independent study, so you can go through it on your own time but also continue to refer back to it long after that first lesson! Please note that I will no longer be teaching this course live, so if you want to learn about book proposals from me, this is the way.

Also also also. My books are filling up — if you wanted to treat yourself to a My Best Writing Practice to help figure out your summer writing, spots are going fast. Here’s what some recent clients had to say:

Here all this time I’ve been thinking my writing is somehow trapped within me, corked up. At some point the pressure of my artistic genius would inevitably build up and burst forth. But what if instead, I am a parched dusty place? What if, while there are certainly dormant particles of inspiration waiting to be activated, there is not enough poured back into the well to initiate that creativity enlivening process? What if what I need is more for me, to fill me up, instead of expecting art in a vacuum? Your 3rd House reading meant the world to me, Jeanna! You really helped me put puzzle pieces together in a meaningful new way. I’m continuously pondering it. [Also], that was a big chunk of change for me, and HOLY WOW did I get my money’s worth! To anyone waffling on this reading, here’s your sign. — Amy

I felt so affirmed in learning how to trust myself more about my writing and creative practices. Allowing and celebrating that I need variety and other people to bring new work into the world. I am not the solo writer in the tower working on the single project, and I am still a writer. I also was so grateful for Jeanna's encouragement of me as a new learner of astrology, and the ways that she made room for what I have learned and helped me to see more and more deeply what my chart is telling me. This was a big investment for me and I'm so grateful I made it. I feel that I now have rich soil to plant the seeds for my work and my growth as a human being. So happy to be on this journey and to have Jeanna as one of my teachers. Strongly recommend this reading! — Jen M.

And now, for Jupiter in Gemini.

“Media,” a new god of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods, played by Gillian Anderson

The first Netflix stream. The emergence of Vine. The rise of mp3s, and Napster and BMG’s partnership. The inaugural Latin Grammys. Billboard issuing its first-ever “Hot Modern Rock Tracks” chart. Madonna’s controversial and contested “Like a Prayer” video. Major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC) transitioning a majority of their prime-time programming towards color, as well as the much-earlier first-ever color broadcast. The first time a president (Truman) records his farewell broadcast on both radio and television. The initial authorization of commercial broadcasting through the FTC. The first transmissions of Baird’s 30-line television system by the BBC.

All of these major media moments and interventions emerged during Jupiter in Gemini transits of the last century. When Jupiter, the exuberant gas giant who wants to expand our reach, embodies the archetype of Gemini, the messenger who wants to disseminate information, it is no surprise that the channels people use to talk to each other shift and change. Broadcast television, Netflix, mp3 downloads: all of these technologies bring the macro experience of art to the micro space of your living room, or the laptop propped up on your bed.

Suffice it to say, this is a supportive year for genre experimentation, for improving your line-level wordsmithing, for changing platforms, for trying something new.
