I'm forwarding this to so many of my friends who reference co-star — thank you for sharing your insight here. very validating on why that app always gave me the icks. even when people say they are using it "merely for entertainment," I think sometimes the messaging and tone can subconsciously lodge itself into you psyche.

Also forwarding this to my friends who are recovering from a religious upbringing and reclaiming their spirituality! I was just chatting with a friend about this — how Biblical stories can be a fertile area of study but that it can feel loaded for people who grew up in a severely strict religious environment. Grateful for your words today!

I'm so glad this was resonant on so many levels for you, Hannah. Appreciate you! <3

Sorry, I’m apparently wordy today 🙄 The idea of Jesus being some sort of spirit aside from the confines of Christianity is something I’ve only started to think about. I was communing with something during church services when the Holy Spirit was invoked, even if it was simply the egregore of a group of people fixated on one thing.

Mercury is direct and the words are HERE! Thank you for sharing!

All of this is good stuff! I think growing up in the Black Church made it easier for me to just pray with passion and of course many of us who haven’t been whitewashed absolutely pray to ancestors, invoke Jesus in all kinds of ways and of course our music! I listen to our music a lot and one of my Black lesbian Buddhist mothers routinely mixes practice, because we are communicating with ourselves.

And thanks for confirming why CHANNI’s app and focus on risings works so well. I also read sidereal. Dayna Nuckolls is one of my main teachers there, but I don’t agree with her that we can’t divinate from other charts, if the purpose is to actually note what’s happening in a meditative and spiritual and a global good way.

that makes so much sense!

i recently got a reading in sidereal and it was so powerful. really enjoyed it. not entirely sure what you mean by not being able to divine from other charts? (other systems?) but I do agree with you in that general sense, that there are many ways to receive information.

Other systems, not charts. Basically the ideas is that western (mostly white) astrologers are missing that astrology is a read on the general Earth energy, then a read on how you fit into that general Earth energy.

Of course the woman who wrote 9 to 5 is a Virgo rising! Thanks for using Dolly, I love her so much. I hear you on the prayer stuff, as an exvie myself I didn’t find the actual prayer hard, but in the moments when I was throwing out a quick prayer (like at work with a really sick patient or a difficult procedure I had to perform) I’d hesitate. Who was I talking to, etc. I’ve settled into talks with the universe in those situations, and have learned to petition my own spirits I’ve developed a relationship with.

We love Dolly!

And I totally hear this <3

Hey Jeanna, how wonderful to hear, "When I was still in the church, I journeyed all the time — I just didn’t call it that" so many get tripped up reconciling what they've been told compared to what their spirit already inherently knows! Blessings

Good to know what you said about the sun sign and rising sign! Lucky for me, both are in Scorpio 🤭 And thanks for what you said about Co-star. I didn't know about that. Will keep that in mind if I learn of a friend using it.

Still trying to wrap my head around Whole House astrology when Placidus has been so accurate for me, and given me a lot of food for thought - but I'm nibbling at it.

I read both my Sun (Libra) and Rising (Scorpio) 'scopes. They take turns in resonating with me. So there. 😜

I've walked the Wiccan path for a while, and I've 1) worked with Jesus and 2) Mother Mary is one of my Matrons, along with Bast and Persephone, so I relate. 😊

Placidus is *also* a wonderful system with its own internal logic! If reading your chart with a Placidus house system works for you, then absolutely stick with that. I use whole sign houses because my work is grounded in Hellenistic astrology and draws on those techniques. But I do still get readings from astro friends who use Placidus — I think seeing your chart in another system always has something fun to teach!

Hence my nibbling. 😊

Thanks for confirming something for me about Co-Star - I just deleted it.

I love all of this!!! And I feel better about having tried co-star several times only to delete it every time because it made no sense to me.

As a Virgo rising, I also loved seeing Dolly's chart. My chart is also skewed to the left of the circle, almost entirely, and seeing hers made me feel better about that. I love that I share a rising sign with Dolly!

Thank you so much for all of this insight! I’m curious what you know and feel about Pluto going into Aquarius and what that means for those who have their rising sign there? (Which is my rising sign!)

Hi Christine! Allow me to direct you to what I wrote about last year's little peak of Pluto in Aquarius. And I'll be sending out something again later this month when it goes back in.

Jeanna, I so appreciated this. Especially the explanation of Asc versus Sun charts and some of the justification around Whole Sign. Having come up with Placidus and Liz Greene and the rest of her crew, it's information I've never had.

And, wow, yes. What we learn in Christianity about prayer is so powerful, and those muscles can absolutely be redirected equally powerfully. I was just reflecting yesterday to a friend, realizing what a gift it was to grow up in a mystical Christian religion. All my life I've known that the Divine could speak to and through me. I was pulling on my mother's skirt when I was three and urging her to "tell the people" what Spirit told me. And to her credit she encouraged me to tell them myself. And my grandmother, who was of a different denomination entirely, also always believed in the power of prayer, which for her involved a daily and very personal, direct conversation with God. It's how she started every day. I don't consider myself a Christian anymore, but I still use everything they taught me about speaking and listening directly to Source with incredible gratitude for the instruction.

As an exvangelical and former atheist, you writing about your prayer journey is so heart-affirming. I love how you have and are integrating the spiritual child you were into the expanded adult now.

I'm seeking to do more of the same. Validating the channeling I did in group prayer and wisdom spaces. Validating the way I sense Truth. Realizing I was more energetically aware than I ever realized. I have forgotten so much of my childhood, but I know I am connected.

Prayer is beautiful. I see that in a whole new way now that I better understand intentions, vibration, energy, and so on.
