I'm a Cancer sun/Capricorn rising, and I love the way you frame this: "Cancer, known for its memory. Capricorn, known for its ability to build that which lasts. Cancer, the ritual bath where our beloved dead so easily come to dwell. Capricorn, the protective edifice: the tub to the bath, the riverbed to the river, offering a way to hold that which is infinite."
As a Cap sun, Cancer ascendant, this axis rules a lot of my thinking about how astrology shows up in my life. Whether I'm reading my sun or my rising, they're echoes of each other. Also, my Saturn is in Cancer, and my moon is Aquarius -- not Capricorn, but still ruled by Saturn. So much Saturn and moon energy!
I’m a Cancer and both my parents are Capricorns as are many of my relatives and friends. I feel innately comfortable and secure with Saturn people. It’s probably my favorite sign.
Capricorn here. It’s also probably good to mention the sign of Capricorn and how it’s represented. Capricorn is the fishtailed goat. A mixture of water and earth. I have always believed out of all the earth signs, Capricorns are the most emotional. Makes sense since they oppose cancer but have a more grounded approach when learning to deal with their emotions, and hide them. In a lot of iconography I have seen about the fishtailed goat, the tail is beneath the water, hidden from the goat half that sits above the waterline.

Oh I’m so glad!

As a Cap sun/moon, I am compelled to agree, even though I'm not supposed to have favorites. 😂
And I think Cancer is FAR spicier / more protective than most!
