The Full Moon in Sagittarius arrives Wednesday, June 11th at 3:43am.
And she’s spicy.
Occurring at 20* of Sagittarius, the moon is applying to a wide trine with Mars in Leo, but mostly, it’s unimpeded by other planets and so gets to be its full self. But what makes this moon potent is that it’s the first lunation that has mutual reception with Jupiter, now exalted in Cancer. Mutual reception is when two planets are in a sign that the other rules: the moon rules Cancer, and Jupiter rules Sagittarius. When two planets are in mutual reception, it’s a kind of mutual amplifying, mutual uplifting, mutual aid that they offer each other. And that goes double when said planets are naturally expansive Jupiter and controls-earth’s-waters moon.
But what does this look like in practice, in our present moment?
As we discussed last week, Cancer energy has claws. And Sagittarius lives for having a megaphone at the street corner: whether protesting or proselytizing, Sag has something to fuckin’ say and you better hear it.
Unsurprisingly, this is tremendously supportive of speaking what’s on your heart: of protesting, of publicly rejecting fascism, of using your platform to make a g-d statement. Of platforming and highlighting the work of those on the Freedom Flotilla, of doing narrative work in your own lives on behalf of those on the street in Los Angeles — that their actions are fundamentally democratic, empathetic, and human rights oriented. That, as the New Republic framed, LA’s protest is an act of community self-defense.
This is great energy for volunteering and for organizing. It’s especially supportive of community caretaking: of being the person who brings bottled water and snacks to your local protest, of offering supplies, of opening your home to protestors who need to scatter. It’s also supportive of expressing those big feelings that have nowhere to go but the page — and finding that courage is contagious, that speaking truth to power becomes easier when your voice is one of many.
But be mindful of speaking before thinking (or researching), of unwittingly sharing misinformation or AI, of getting so wrapped up in ~the discourse~ that you forget to touch grass. A point of interest that has got a lot of attention on TikTok is the “debate” over bringing American flags to protest in LA — a critique that, first off, is ridiculous, because I’ve seen plenty of images of folks with American flags in Los Angeles, often displaying the flag hung upside down in a sign of national distress. This TikTok discourse is mostly propagated by white Americans who are not from and have never lived in southern California, who do not know that, in that part of the country, the Mexican flag (and the Californian flag!) are often displayed in tandem with the American flag, that it is as common to see one as the other. (And historically, ofc, southern California used to be Mexico!) Classic Jupiter, classic Sagittarius moon — making a big claim before fact-checking ourselves.
While the fear of “cancelation,” or of making a mistake, can impede too many white folks from saying anything at all (conflict aversion is white supremacy in action!), I think there is a difference between speaking up versus speaking out of turn. And this moon invites us to consider that nuance as we use our individual and collective voices on behalf of change.
Creatively speaking, though.
First, this lunation reminds us that artists and healers have a vital part to play. We are the ones who define the narrative, who humanize those on the ground, who use our wits and language and eyes and artistic skill to write, to photograph, to meme our way to a more humane world.
In a practical sense, this week also has Big Draft Energy. Very, let’s try something new. Quantity over quality. Any words on the page > perfect words on the page. The week had a rocky start, but I’m trying to get a few thousand words on my current draft written over the next few days!
Some ideas for everyone as to how to engage with this Full Moon:
Draft something new. Just for fun. Just for you. Comment with what project you think you’ll dedicate some time to this week!
Use your voice to get loud and call your reps. (

What has grown, or culminated, or been learned over these last six months? What new turn has your life taken? What dream or wish have you released? Check in with your past self, with compassion.
