What a delightful set of prompts! I am working my way back into a WIP novel after stagnating for a bit, so this is perfect timing.
Off the top of my head: Freddie Mercury, the Light Princess fairytale, the Royal Flush Gang from DC Comics, and Twilight (I know I KNOW) are ancestors for this particular story.
Also this Cancer New Moon missive reminds me of how often you write about the importance of artistic inputs. And how building a personal canon leads to developing taste. How an increasingly corporate-driven art world tries to force the same ancestors on every story, which completely misses the point.
(I also just watched the Mike Mignola Hellboy documentary, so the importance of artist-driven work is top of mind).
Oooh, so much to chew on in this missive. Thank you. The discussion and prompts have my mind whirring first thing this morning. As I'm responding from the island of Ireland, let me say again go raibh maith agat.
I will be at a funeral honoring an ancestor tomorrow and after opening this newsletter my ritual is becoming clear, and will definitely involve the blood moon water I collected from magickal Lake Bled (in first photo). Plus lots of matrilineal stories. Love your work, thanks for the nudge!
Literally in the middle of a writing conference/program and feeling so much imposter syndrome-- but this came through and made me feel better. :') My collection's ancestors are woven throughout its DNA, cited but ripped apart and sewn back together again. This new moon is my relocated 8h here in Portugal so....... nothing but seeing what I share with others. Our pooled resources.

I LOVE this list! How inspired! (No judgment for Twilight here, it was big!)

Oh I'm glad it could be a balm! Happy New Moon, Christa!
