The New Moon arrives at 6* of Gemini at precisely 11:02pm Eastern on Monday, May 26th.
And let me tell you: this is great news for writers and artists who work with narrative and language.
I would go so far as to say that, astrologically speaking, this is the best week of the year for writers thus far, period, because tonight’s New Moon really 10Xs our ability to channel creative energy. Whether this looks like getting words on the page (output) or spending time doing things that really reinvigorate your creative well (input), this New Moon is POTENT. (And to answer the question that’s on the tip of your tongue: this energy is with us all week, so no worries if you have a busy long weekend!)
I’m excited because this is really the first New Moon of 2025 in which we are empowered to immediately start things, launch things, and otherwise make changes to our routine in a way we can visibly track. This week, it’s easier to notice those small changes you’re making in your day that give you more space to engage with Creativity.
Many New Moons are slow; others are quiet. This one is not only loud, but it also comes with significant support. Expansive, buoyant healer-teacher Jupiter is still here in Gemini, encouraging our research rabbit holes and seemingly random interest that will almost certainly connect to a project someday. Most significantly, Mercury is here, too, closely conjunct the New Moon and so emphasizing not only new projects, but also highlighting the ~new~ ways in we are approaching our existing projects (hi hello I am personally in that latter camp).
What I really love about this Gemini moon is that it has a lightness that artists desperately need right now. Gemini doesn’t tunnel through the work; it is curious. And non-judgmental about exploring its curiosities.
Which makes this week an ideal one to (re-)connect with your relationship to Creativity.
Some ideas for everyone as to how to engage with this New Moon:
Spend time this week with your Idea Dumps, Parking Lots, Attics, Basements, and whatever you call those scraps of paper, journals, or Scrivener documents where you jot down seemingly random “what if I ever wrote something about this maybe” ideas and interests. Gemini is a collector, a magpie, and this energy really honors the way that ~gathering~ the ideas into ourselves is part of the work.
Duality and twinning are key Gemini themes. “On the one hand” / “on the other” is a peak Gemini-coded aphorism. And so I want to encourage us all, this week, to be mindful about energetically matching our Output with Input — and especially about matching our expectations of said output. For every 15 minutes you spend in front of your computer, writing or “thinking about” writing, also spend 15 minutes doing something that nourishes the creative well: playing video games, moving your body, playing with your pets, meditating, journaling, engaging with a form of art that you do not do and could never professionalize. Because if we’re producing (or even simply expecting production), then we also need to be giving ourselves fuel.
Look to the Gemini house of your chart for more information on specific topics/genres and/or ways of being/creating in the world that may be getting highlighted for you! And on that note —
Can I share some more exciting news?
Creativity Through the Houses, my 4-hour super-conversational “lecture” with my dear friend , is now available for immediate download.
As a working writer who is also an astrologer, it has been the joy and surprise of my life that most of my astrological work revolves around helping other artists find / accept / unpack the internalized capitalism of their Creative Practice. Through years of doing 3rd House-specific readings and year-ahead forecasts for writers and artists working in just about every genre and modality you can think of, I’ve come to understand that Creativity as a living being is shot through every goddamn house of the birth chart.
I hope that this lecture can offer permission. Self-forgiveness. A loosening of capitalism’s ever-present grip. More grace with your expectations around production. And a better understanding, perhaps, of your unique and remarkably special creative makeup that actually explains why you create/write/make the way you create/write/make.
It is, if I do say so myself, a rather lovely accompaniment to any intention-setting or magic you are doing on this Gemini New Moon.
tl;dr who is this for / why we made it
If any combination of these bulletpoints speak to you, you’re gonna want Creativity Through The Houses.
If you are creative, which is to say if you’re alive, and you like thinking about things with the help of astrology, this is for you.
If you want to see how your whole chart speaks to how Creativity works in your life: the specific shape your struggles take, what topics or themes may be most appealing to you in your work, what moves you to make shit in the first place, and more.
If you’re not sure if you see yourself as a “creative person” but wish you were and want to see how that might actually be really true, just not in the way you’ve thought before.
If you’ve ever witnessed how astrology can help you let go of some shitty narratives about how you “should” do things and you’d like to see that happen around creativity. this lecture’s going to do that for you.
If Stephen King’s On Writing and other writing/creative “how-to” books fucked you up. (Or, if they helped, but only kind of.)
If you find the houses kind of confusing or abstract. We’re covering every single one, with example charts, and I promise you that seeing every house through a specific, practical lens is going to make them clearer to you.
If you’re an astrologer who see clients in creative fields and you want to see how creative practices show up in perhaps surprising parts of the chart
If you enjoy learning things with some structure (we’ve got slides!) but also prefer it to be pretty conversational. We have a lot to share with you and we planned it out but this lecture is also just two friends talk about a thing we’re passionate about.
If you love a prompt! We have over 36 journal prompts, 3-4 for every house, so you can apply what you’re learning to your own chart.
If you love example charts! We’ve got 5 to help ground what we’re describing and drive it home.
If you loved
’s finding fulfillment workshop and/or guidebook but wanted to see how the other houses in your chart impact your creative life.If you have gotten a 5th and/or 11th house reading with Maeg and loved it.
If you have gotten a 3rd house reading (or an Unsticking Your Creative Practice Mini-Reading) with me and loved it.
Thank you for reading this edition of astrology for writers. I know the world is wild and your inboxes are full of distressing breaking news, and so you taking the time to still engage with this work — and with your Creative selves — means the world.
A sincere pleasure to read Jeanna, always amazing to sense the gift of stained glass houses and the new moon cycle. I have been writing poetry and reading charts for a long time, your article is great, thank you. 🌞✍️✨
Turned on my paid tiers today! Felt so easy & my Gemini self is so stoked for this energy!
