First off, I want to affirm that DIY Saturn altars can look so many different ways — there is no "oh I have to include this or it doesn't count." An earnest prayer/petition/recitation of the Orphic Hymn to Saturn is *genuinely* all you need for relationship building.
But for the altar itself, or for Saturn's spot on your working altar: black candles, (ethically sourced) bone fragments, skulls, images/effigies of Saturnian/Saturnian-themed animals like goats, crocodiles, turtles, etc.
Whew Cap rising having my first Saturn return AND w my moon in Aries! Thank you for this incredible thorough article, I've been obsessively reading Saturn in Aries forecasts and this is by far the most informative and helpful I've seen! 😭💕
My husband is an Aries Rising so we've been preparing for this transit for him and it's in my 10th House and I'm like, yeah, buckling down for career stuff, I'm ready! And then you say "Aries Sun watch your health" 😅 But I don't wanna go to the doctors! 😂
I loved the Saturn altar tips. Gonna implement some of them! Oddly enough, I've been considering getting a crocodile tattoo for a bit for other reasons. Maybe now is the time!
What a wonderful article! Thank you 🙂. On Saturn's Day what special invocation/prayer would be best? Also I'm also curious about a paying special homage to Saturn on my altar. Thanks! ✨
I am a firm believer in that there's not a "best" — just what feels most appropriate for you and your petitions! You can always do an Orphic Hymn (see @Kristin Mathis for more on that!), but I often speak my own prayers aloud.
Saturn's most traditional color is black, and so offering some black salt or lighting a black candle would be appropriate!
If you are a crystal person, then smoky quartz and onyx are great options! If herbs/flowers are more your style, try waking up some comfrey or thyme! Tobacco and cannabis are also often Saturn-associated.
Literally just had my 50th birthday this week. Was wondering why this age felt so much more impactful than 40. Also I’m a Libra rising. When I think back to my first Saturn return, I completely flipped my entire life (in my green Saturn station wagon). And funny enough those feelings of restlessness have been stirring again. Would appreciate suggestions for a Saturn alter.
It is interesting to have Saturn returning to my 8th house, where it was in the 90's, when I left a very dysfunctional relationship, met my husband and then had my kids around my saturn return. I'm just hoping for the best these next few years as the last 7 (with my uranus opposition) have been a massive time of change.
If we’re creative, we can’t escape its gravitational force. It’s always there. When I have clients that avoid it or stuff it down, the creative energy has a way of rising back up.
Case in point:
• in Whole Sign, it’s my natal Mercury (Oriental) at 1 degree conjunct the Sun at 8 degrees in Pisces. That alone reeks creatively. When placed in the 5th house it makes sense in my life given all the things I’ve done from animation, to comics, and my massive poetry collection.
In the 4th house (Placidus) it doesn’t reflect as much. Luckily I have the moon semi-sextile in Aries conj Chiron, which makes some sense but only in a flat way.
This is why—I think—we can’t have clients use AI to do their charts, or therapy, or anything service related. In the process of doing a reading, we get to suss out and cross-examine things.
I’m a certified astrologer and it’s nice to know/see you on Substack ♥️

Happy (almost!) Saturn Return!

Love your insight, as always 💗
We love the LEVELING UP energy this is bringing! Y'all got this!
But also take care of yourself bb! I also hate going to the doctor but it is NO JOKE with Saturn on the sun/moon!
Does it help if your sun is exalted? Asking for a friend. 😂

I'd love tips for a Saturn altar! - A Capricorn Rising with Saturn in Capricorn conjunct Neptune :)
