ICYMI, there was a New Moon in Sagittarius yesterday. And also, here’s a gift guide to books, tarot decks, journals, and more from your fellow Astrology for Writers readers!

Mercury stationed retrograde this morning at the ungodly hour of 2:09am Eastern at 8* of Capricorn. It will stay haunting and taunting us until it stations direct quite literally on January 1, 2024 at 22* Sagittarius. We are dealing with yet another Mercury Rx that goes between signs. They’re tricksy that way.

The internet tends to get its knickers in a twist over Mercury Rx, a very normal and predictable astrological event that happens three times a year for roughly three weeks apiece. By now, y’all are deeply accustomed to my standard Mercury Rx lecture about how we shouldn’t put our lives on hold for this transit, and how it’s nothing to be afraid of (because it’s not!).

However, this Mercury Rx is occurring during one of the busiest travel times of the year. You may well be seeing loved ones or, perhaps, folks you share blood with but don’t necessarily care for all that much. And Mercury, the ruler of planes, trains, and automobiles; communication, texts gone awry, and explaining your writing to your family; and, of course, money and commerce and gifts, will be retrograde.

Basically, Mercury is in charge of everything for the coming family gatherings — but Mercury is gonna be a little tipsy, a little less than organized, a little hazy.

And so, because of that, I thought we could all do with a few reminders, and some dates to be Particularly Aware Of, as we go into Mercury Rx during this chaotic last month of the year in regards to a few topics.

(Please forgive my gratuitous use of images from the cheesy as hell but perfect Netflix xmas romcom Single All the Way, which is theoretically about two gay men but is really a lesbian love story.)

Anyway, Mercury Rx! First up —

Travel
